Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B to create a unique mix. The singer's career has taken her all over the world, from Broadway to European concerts and festivals to even at the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine can be described as Denise White. Although she is a resident of Atlanta now, Sunshine is from Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she began her career as a musician singing and playing in the local church. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music on the Atlanta's R&B scene. She took on the role of primary piano player for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. In 2007 Grammy and Tony Award-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out to serve as the director of the choir for the stage production of Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine received national attention for four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was invited to perform at President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
