Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into fame in 1994, after she dropped her debut album Age Ain't nothing but a Number. At the time, she was just 15 years old. when the album was released and it was later renamed Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced the group and helped bring her into the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri as well as Timbaland worked together to create her sophomore album One In A Million. This album featured the song If Your Boyfriend only Knew as the number one. Aaliyah gained notoriety as an R&B vocalist after the release. She was a part of the legendary martial artist Jet Li in the romance-action film Romeo Must Die. She is an Indian-American of one generation who was born in Connecticut. Mann, her stage name is an acronym for Mankad her surname when she married. However, she uses both Aarti Mann and Aarti Majumdar for her professional names. The acting career of her began in the mid 2000's, with a few roles on TV and films. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials for Volvo's international automobile maker. The actress lives within Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. She will continue to pursue an acting career.
